Soaring to Success: Little Rock Students Take Flight with Drones
September 26th marked a special day in Little Rock, Arkansas, where innovation met history during the city’s annual Little Rock Nine Celebration. Grace3 Technologies and Skydio hosted Soar Seminary, an engaging, in-school aviation and robotics program, honoring the legacy of the Little Rock Nine.
More than 85 talented students from Little Rock Central High School’s SECME Engineering and Robotics program and the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) participated. The goal of Soar Seminary is to inspire the next generation of aviators, engineers, and roboticists by providing hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology. Grace3 and Skydio experts led the students through immersive sessions focused on:
- Autonomous Drones: Students learned about the capabilities and applications of sophisticated, self-flying drone technology.
- Robotics: The program provided a practical look into the world of mechanical engineering and automation.
- Aviation Fundamentals: Participants gained foundational knowledge necessary for careers in the rapidly evolving aerospace industry.
Holding Soar Seminary during the Little Rock Nine Celebration added a layer of profound significance. The event served not only as a platform for STEM education but also as a powerful way to honor the trailblazing spirit of the Little Rock Nine.
The initiative paid special tribute to for former Grace3 Technologies Advisory Board Member and oldest of the Little Rock Nine, Ernie Green, whose commitment to education and empowerment continues to inspire us. His legacy is one of opening doors and creating opportunities, a mission perfectly embodied by the Soar Seminary program.
By connecting the historical struggle for educational access with the future of technology, the Soar Seminary proved to be a vibrant demonstration of how far we’ve come—and how high these students are ready to fly.
